“Fresh, flavorful, and high-quality” are a few words Myron Moore would attribute to StormBurger, located at 1500 N La Brea Avenue, the new Inglewood restaurant where he serves as co-owner and director of Operations.

With over two decades of experience as a chef, Moore knew a differentiating factor to StormBurger’s success would be their top-notch ingredients. When the Inglewood native partnered with founder Mike Storm to bring StormBurger to his neighborhood, Moore wanted to ensure that the same ingredients found in high-end restaurants were present in their menu while maintaining affordable pricing.

Outlining what differentiates StormBurger from its competitors, Moore told the Sentinel, “We have freshly made bread that comes in every day from a local bakery a couple of blocks away, and our meat purveyor is also local, right here in Inglewood.

“One of many things we’re doing differently from other burger places is using higher-quality meat. It’s chuck, brisket, and steak trim. If you’re not in the industry, then you’re not familiar with steak trim. When that’s all ground up, it makes for a more flavorful burger and very few people are doing that.”

When asked if there was a learning curve in his transition from chef to restaurant owner, Moore shares that during his time working for the Hillstone Corporation, not only was he trained in the culinary arts, but also his extensive training also included business management.

“Day-to-day you’re accountable for food cost and labor cost. So, understanding the numbers is a skill I have developed over many years in the industry and bring to the table at StormBurger. Mike Storm and the partners wanted me to bring my standards, systems and procedures to StormBurger and build that culture here.”

For those who have yet to experience StormBurger’s delicious menu, Moore shares his recommendations as, “The deluxe chicken sandwich. You’ll find that it’s more unique than any other chicken sandwich with a nice kale mix, a tangy dress, and Swiss cheese, it’s very crispy on the outside, and juicy. When it’s topped with the bun, everything compliments each other.

“As far as the burgers, the double Classic or the barbecue bacon burger with onion rings made fresh in-house, every day are the most popular. We also have great fries and great milkshakes.”

In addition to providing Moore’s beloved neighborhood with amazing food, StormBurger also gives back to the community by donating time and great food to a number of community organizations, including Calvary Chapel Church and the little league baseball team in Ladera Park.

Prior to becoming StormBurger, the Inglewood location was a Church’s Chicken which had been closed for nearly two years leaving behind a “food desert,” an area where residents have limited access to affordable, fresh food.

With the immense success of their inaugural location, Moore, Mike Storm, and leadership team members Omkar Ganesan and John Herndon are working to reduce food deserts in other underserved communities. New StormBurger locations slated to open in Compton and Long Beach in the summer of 2025.

StormBurger, located at 1500 N La Brea Avenue in Inglewood, is open daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
