The 2nd Annual City of Inglewood Music Festival held at Darby Park in Inglewood was the place to be on June 29.  Inglewood’s Mayor and City Council, hosted by Councilwoman Dionne Faulk unfolded a grand celebration for the residents of Inglewood including a free live concert, food trucks, vendors, and much more.

The park buzzed with energy as the crowd enjoyed a stellar lineup of artists. Special guest emcee Adai Lamar from KJLH kept the momentum going between performances. The stage was graced by legendary acts such as Lakeside with Mark Wood, the soulful sounds of Ambrosia, the smooth saxophone of Eric Darius, and the lively rhythms of Louie Cruz Beltran.

Rising stars Durti Ryce, A Piece of Paradise, and DJ QuessCoast added fresh beats to the mix, making sure there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Elected officials in attendance included Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts, Councilmembers Gloria Gray, Alex Padilla, and Eloy Morales, Inglewood City Clerk Aisha Thompson, Assemblymember Tina McKinnor, State Senator Steven Bradford, Culver City Mayor Yasmine McMorrin, and members of the Inglewood Unified School District Board and administration, greeted the audience with messages of support and unity. A highlight of the event was the appearance of Congresswoman Maxine Waters, who presented a proclamation to Councilwoman Faulk in recognition of the festival’s success and its contribution to the community. The proclamation honored the festival’s role in bringing people together through the universal language of music.

Adding to the festive spirit, Mayor Butts proudly announced that the Inglewood High School Marching Band had been nominated to represent the community in the National Independence Day Parade on July 4, 2025, in Washington, D.C.

“Following a rigorous selection process, the band earned this esteemed opportunity to showcase their talent on Constitution Avenue alongside other renowned bands and distinguished participants,” said the mayor.

“The festival not only brought the community together, but also galvanized local support for the IUSD band’s upcoming performance, encouraging donations to ensure they shine on the national stage next year at the National Parade in Washington, DC.,” added Councilwoman Faulk.
