NFL Hall of Fame running back and former NFL Most Valuable Player, LaDainian Tomlinson, has joined the Los Angeles Chargers as Special Assistant to the owner of the team. Tomlinson, who holds 28 team records as well as the NFL single-season record for rushing touchdowns, will support the organization and expand its community outreach as the franchise continues the transition to Los Angeles.
Tomlinson, who will also continue to appear as an analyst on NFL Network, will take on an important role with the Chargers, focusing on engaging fans and the community, sharing his passion for the team and game of football.
“L.T. is one of the most beloved and iconic Chargers of all time,” said Chairman Dean Spanos. “His active involvement in our fight for Los Angeles is vital, and he represents the very best of what it means to be a Charger on the field and in the community.”
“I spent the most memorable and exciting years of my career as a Charger,” said Tomlinson. “Joining the franchise as it makes the move to Los Angeles, and helping to rally new and familiar Chargers fans alike, is an honor and a privilege. I’m looking forward to working alongside the Spanos family once again.”
Tomlinson’s duties include helping to further develop fan engagement and community relations programs for the Los Angeles Chargers. The five-time Pro Bowl standout will work with the organization to maintain an active presence in the community, building on the momentum the team has established with its call to “Fight for LA”. Tomlinson’s long and storied history with the team gives him a unique perspective, allowing him to continue building the Chargers’ fan base in their new home.
