As Christian hip hop gains momentum, recording artist Lecrae has emerged as a leader in the field. His 2010 album, ‘Rehab,’ garnered a Grammy nomination and his latest project, ‘Rehab Deluxe,’ is on track to repeat that success.

His new record combines past work of Lecrae with tracks completed earlier this year. Both albums point to Christ as the answer to relieve hurt and pain.

“This album, ‘Rehab Deluxe,’ tries to articulate that everybody is wrestling with some sort of ailment or brokenness and our only hope for rehabilitation is found in Jesus,” said Lecrae.

“I think humanity is always searching for answers and for purpose, but at the end of the day, we are spiritual beings and we are God’s workmanship. He crafted us and made us for a purpose. He may not get us out of every situation that there is, but He will definitely get us through it,” he said.

Lecrae experienced God’s deliverance many times during his young life. Raised in a single-parent home, his mother exposed him to African American history, but he lived in a rough, urban neighborhood.

“So, I was really this torn person who saw both aspects of life, but didn’t know what ‘hope’ looked like. I really didn’t believe until I was out of high school and began to see some Christians like me.

“They talked like me, dressed like me, came from the same environment I came from, and were sincere and authentic about their faith. That was something I hadn’t seen before and I was really interested,” recalled Lecrae.

“After spending time with them and hearing more about the historical Jesus and what the Bible was really about, it hit me. I was really changed and I haven’t been the same since.”

Lecrae’s commitment to Christ and strong belief in His Word flow throughout the lyrics of his music. To listen to his tracks, visit reachrecords.com. Also, Lecrae can be reached via Twitter: @Lecrae or www.facebook.com/Lecrae.
