More than 500 women filled the ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach to hear Dr. Betty R. Price at the 41st Annual Wisdom From Above Luncheon.
The huge gathering, which included music, Bible teaching and lunch, attracted guests from the Los Angeles area as well as Newport Beach, Moreno Valley, Riverside and San Diego. In addition, several people traveled from Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Tennessee and Northern California.
As Price extended her appreciation to everyone for attending the event, she took a moment to acknowledge two members of Macedonia Baptist Church – Olivette Hester and Arvinola Neal – whom she has maintained close friendship with for more than 70 years.
Danielle Keys, first lady of Life of Victory Worship Center, ministered in song, and several members of Crenshaw Christian Center participated in the program. Then, Price came to the podium to deliver an insightful message entitled, “Living Your Fulfilled Life.”
Referencing Psalms 145:19, she declared, “God is there to fulfill our desires. His Word is relevant and I always felt He was with me. He’s given me a good life and brought me from poverty to wealth, from sickness to health!”
She went on to cite several scriptures to help women in their walk with the Lord. Reading from Ephesians 3:16-19, Price advised, “Strengthen your inner man or woman by being filled with the Holy Spirit.” Regarding parent, child and marriage relationships, she pointed to Ephesians 6:1 and 5:22-32, respectively.
Price concluded by encouraging the audience to have faith and “put on the whole armor of God” as noted in Ephesians 6:10-18, in their daily life. “Believe God, no matter what you may see. That’s how I’ve made it all of these years!”
“Wisdom From Above has been the ultimate ladies event at Crenshaw Christian Center for 41 years,” said Stephanie Price Buchanan, event chair. “It is something we all look forward to and it’s our annual time to fellowship around the Word with our sisters in Christ.”
Dr. Betty and her husband, Apostle Frederick K.C. Price are the founders of Crenshaw Christian Center in Los Angeles. Their son, the Rev. Frederick K. Price, Jr., and his wife, Angel Price, currently serve as pastor and first lady.
