West Angeles Church of God in Christ began observing the 2024 Christmas season with a children’s program, “The Joy of the New Star” allowing the youngest members to share their gifts while celebrating Christ’s birth.
On Sunday, Dec. 6, the evening program began in the West Angeles Cathedral at 6 p.m. and was also available online for viewers across the country. The children’s ensemble of singers and actors as young as three years old delivered a touching version of the Nativity miracle.
They presented the story from the perspective of the stars in the sky – and particularly the Star of Bethlehem – that brightly appeared on that blessed night. The “New Star” program closed with Pastor Charles Blake II proclaiming in faith and speaking about the futures of the children as emerging leaders in ministry, government, business, and beyond.
He reflected on his own experiences as a child in that very same children’s ministry and how important it is for children to have such opportunities. The children then surrounded Pastor Charles II and Lady DeAndra Blake for an all-cast photo.
