The “Ozie Gonzaque Celebration of 99 Years of Life, Impact, and Service” was filled with music, love, family, friends, and colleagues from all over the country on Sunday June 9.
Being in a room full of leaders, changemakers, and individuals who purposefully delivered power and positivity to everyone in the venue was an experience that will not be forgotten by those who attended.
The expressions of sincere appreciation and honor was shared throughout the event as Congressmembers from numerous districts, police chiefs, and three generations of family delivered incredibly inspiring messages to Ozie Gonzaque about her impact on their lives. It was truly a sentiment that was shared unanimously.
Congresswoman Maxine Waters had very heartfelt and beautiful words for her dear friend Ozie Ganzaque.

“She is a very special woman, and we have worked together for many years now, but I want to tell you what I think is very special about her aside from the work that she did serving on the board of a public housing and making sure that public policy was developed in a way that would have to advance the young people help them to think about careers have them to think about not being in gangs and on and on and on,” said Waters.
The esteemed Senator Steven Bradford gave a powerful dedication to Ozie Gonzaque. “I’m honored to be here to celebrate an amazing individual who has let her actions speak louder than her words.
“But when she did need to open her mouth, she spoke truth to power, and that’s why you have two police chiefs here today. You have, hopefully, the future police chief here today. We have amazing community activists and business leaders here to celebrate a life. A life that is well lived, a life that we all try to emulate,” said Bradford.
The event culminated in the traditional song ‘Happy Birthday’ as a gorgeous cupcake arrangement was presented in the shape of 99. Mrs. Gonzaque expressed her deepest thanks to everyone who attended, including long-time friends whom she had not seen in quite some time.
Her close friends, family, associates, and colleagues paid homage to her and celebrated a life of truth, change, and progress. Many shared their sincere appreciation for all of Mrs. Gonzaque’s contributions.
