TV One’s first-ever Unsung feature film Love Under New Management: The Miki Howard Story, starring Teyonah Parris(Chi-Raq, Survivor’s Remorse, Mad Men) in the title role as Grammy Award-nominated R&B songstress Miki Howard, posted the highest Live+3 DVR lift among W18-34 (+55%) among all original movies in network history.

This additional record-breaking statistic follows TV One’s recent announcement regarding Love Under New Management: The Miki Howard Story’s record ratings on its premiere night, Sunday, June 12. The film ranked as the #1 Original Movie in network history posting Live+3 ratings as follows:  HHLD 1.10, W25-54 1.07, W18-49 .88, P25-54 .79, P18-49 0.67.  And every key demo posted double-digit DVR lift: W25-54 +63%, P18-34 +62%, W18-49 +59%, P18-49 +58%, P25-54 +58%, W18-34 +55%. Additionally, Love Under New Management: The Miki Howard Story ranked as the #1 Ad-Supported Cable Telecast among all key black demos with a combined reach of 2.2 million total unique viewers 2+ for the night.

Before topping Billboard’s R&B charts, Miki Howard was a homeless teenager estranged from her mother, a member of the legendary gospel group The Caravans,  and desperate for love, attention and success. Love Under New Management: The Miki Howard Story candidly explores the complicated history of Howard’s romantic relationship with R&B singer Gerald Levert, the tumultuous relationship with her mother, and her battles to overcome spousal abuse and drug addiction. Viewers can catch TV One’s encore presentation on Sunday, June 26 at 2 p.m. ET.

Love Under New Management: The Miki Howard Story features a star-studded ensemble cast opposite Parris, including Darius McCrary (The LeftoversFamily Matters) as Gerald Levert; Vanessa Bell Calloway (ShamelessTo Hell and Back) as Miki’s mother Josephine Howard; Gary Dourdan (CSIBeing Mary Jane) as Augie Johnson; LisaRaye McCoy (Single LadiesAll of Us) as Sylvia Rhone; and Amari Cheatom (Django Unchained, Night Catches Us) as Eddie Phelps.
