Oftentimes I have looked at the passages about Cain, the firstborn of Adam and Eve. The part of most interest for me was why did Cain take the attitude of disobedience, which turned into anger. And as anger does, it takes on a life unto itself so that the good is strangled.
The bad takes on its own personality and escalates upward, step by step, until murder or mass murder or robbery and other egregious sinful behavior takes root and explodes. Behind all this erupting nasty behavior is the devil himself and his destructive minions.
“And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord. And she again bares his brother Abel. Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a farmer. And in process of time, it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord. And Abel, he also brought of the first of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But the LORD did not honor Cain and to his offering he had no respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. Cain was very disappointed about how the LORD accepted or not accepted his offering.”
What happened here? Cain was gravely disappointed. And he was insanely jealous. “And the Lord said unto Cain, Why are you so upset? and why is your disappointment so severe? God as He is always merciful and forgiving encouraged. If you do well, won’t you also be accepted?”
Then the LORD issued a warning. “And if thou do not well, sin is waiting for you even right at your door.” And the desire for you is the desire of what sin wants you to do and become. So, you fall into the destiny already set by Satan to happen to you. And not only that, but sin will over take you and will become your slave master and you become the slave. It shall rule over you.
These words were not what Cain wanted to hear. With those words, Cain made a conscious decision to disobey and chose to become a slave to sin. Now, Cain didn’t go to jail or prison for murdering his brother Abel. But, Jehovah cast him out to become a vagabond and a fearful and feared man on the earth.
Abel trusted his brother Cain and with that frame of mind, Cain talked with Abel his brother. “And it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and murdered him!” This picture explains how it doesn’t take much for an angry, jealous person to become infuriated in rage and kill others!
“And the Lord called Cain to accountability and said to Cain, ‘Where is Abel your brother?’ And Cain in his impudent bad attitude said, ‘I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper?’” In other words, “I don’t know where he is. What are you asking me for? You’re the one who created him. Ask yourself.”
The LORD is never asleep, caught short or not knowing what to do. “And he said, ‘What have thou done? the voice of your brother’s blood cries to me from the ground. And now see what you have done to yourself and your inheritors. You are cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand.”
I imagine the alleged murderers of Tyre Nichols might say some words like these. I suspect right now the alleged are sitting and waiting what will be their fate. What rational mind would join with other irrational minds to commit such awful acts? Will they become fugitives-vagabonds, wandering all around? They were blindly deceived by anger turned to hate and murder.
“The LORD said, Now that you have cursed yourself and your progeny (your offspring) because those who see you and know of you, will want to kill you because you killed God’s image. You will be a fugitive and a vagabond. When you plow and cultivate the ground, it won’t yield its strength. Your work will be harder.”
So, we have here these alleged murderers for whom no known reason to stop him (Nichols), pull from his car, pounce on him, beat him, and leave him on the ground like a ragdoll and do fist bumps demonstrating victory at their evil doings. Was it racist? No. I don’t think the basis and origin was racism. The same evil that created the idea of racism created this one too.
You see, all of this hatred, no matter the form, originates from one source and that is, it’s Satanic. The origin of greed, hate, arrogance and boastfulness all come from the other side. Let’s not be deceived. You cannot (or not recommended) to try hand-to-hand combat with this powerful enemy. Put aside anger, hateful words and let the power and glory of Jesus reflect from you.
