Now that we have gotten the technicality of defining “purge,” let’s go on to apply it to what’s happening today. In the book of Malachi 3:2, he talks about “My Messenger.” I am sending My Messenger. His Messenger is coming. Who can withstand the message and actions that he brings with Him and the consequences of his message? He is like a refiner’s fire (smelter’s fire and a fuller’s lye (soap)! He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver and He shall purify the Levites (priestly ones) too. We are already told that judgement will begin at the House of God first. “For it is the judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who disobey the gospel of God?” What is the purpose behind all of this purging? Malachi says, “He will purify descendents of Levi and refine them to bring forth offerings in righteousness.” Malachi 3:3)  Here again, God is trying to guide as many as hear and listen to His warnings to rightly actions. Thereby, everyone is forewarned of what is now and this is the prelude or precursor to what more is to come. For those who refuse to listen, hear what it says, “I will act as a relentless accuser against these groups of offenders, those who have no fear of God, “those who practice withcraft, adultery, swear falsely, cheat workers, subvert widows, orphans and strangers.” I didn’t say it. He said it. This is only a partial list. Now, let’s look at this fuller’s soap and his art of soap making. The fuller’s soap is some alkaline or some substance mixed with the water in the tubs used for stamping or beating cloth. The fullers used an incline, decline rubbing board to rub the cloth with this extremely strong substance to whiten the cloth. Other colored cloth was also cleansed. But, for our subject here, we’re talking about how white can white get to be? At the “transfiguration” (Mark 9:3), our Savior’s robe are said to have been white, “no fuller on earth could white them. (not that white). The message is about purity, cleansing. The scripture says, “to present the church to Himself as a glorious church without stain or wrinkle; but holy and blameless.” The clothes were trodden and whitened and rubbed to whiter than white (so to speak). So, where am I going with this? There is purging going on. We can see it and be witnesses to its happening. The abortion law in Texas is a part of that purging. Those women who insist on having abortions after the six week period of pregnancy will have to go to other states eradicate and kill the babies. With the ongoing hurricanes, storms and the like in Louisiana and the COVID variant and perhaps others to come, these are visible means of purging. We get an opportunity to search ourselves and look at our own selves and examine ourselves so we will be ready for that “descend from heaven with a loud command with the voice of an archangel…” All these things are message carriers and The Almighty God is aimed at getting our attention. Many still refuse to pay attention. His mission is to bring everyone who wants to go with Him, “Come on. Let’s go.” His purpose is for love. He doesn’t want us to be left behind. There is room, but we have to want to go. He’s not going to drag anyone. It is a willingness to go. Now back to that fuller’s fire.  Even with the Afghanistan situation. He is purging and refining. He is watching to see who is telling the truth and who is not. With the children at the borders, He’s watching to see how we will solve that problem? How will we treat the homeless and the fatherless and the widows. What do we propose to do when He asks in Matthew, “Who are you? I never knew you. They will say, “yes, Lord, I did this and I did that.” Oh, really?? I had no relationship with you. You didn’t follow me. You had your chance. “I was a stranger, you didn’t take me in.” There will be a separation of the goats from the sheep. Matthew 25:31) The righteous ones did rightly and did it automatically and were unconscious as to their deeds and were not counting everything and looking for rewards-.But, as in the virgins parable, “the door was shut.” The fuller’s fire is purging and burning. The church should become whiter with no spot or  blemish. Whatever we are and whatever we are doing, it is beneficial that we learn to respond lovingly to all with whom we come into contact. Think love and respect. Remember the “fuller” and His cleansing power. Remember the power of the “fuller’s fire.”  Thanks for reading!
