Kelly Rowland proved an inspiration to 100 young and impressionable students who descended upon Disney World for the four-day 2022 Disney Dreamers Academy. Serving as this year’s celebrity ambassador for the program, Rowland led the students – called Dreamers – and others in a parade along Main Street in the Magic Kingdom. “This program really touches me,” Rowland declared. “I know how important it is, especially for students of color, when you think of the STEM aspect of this. We need STEM and STEAM because there’s such a big void there.”
When Harvey Mason jr. took the helm at the Recording Academy, the Grammy-nominated producer knew there would be an uphill climb. There was a huge choir that veered from stirring, soaring gospel, then spit verses from Cardi B and sang lines from Queen Latifah’s “U.N.I.T.Y.”; a spoken word artist who reminded the audience that rock ‘n’ roll was invited by a Black, queer woman; and a stunning collection of clothes that ran the gamut from casual chic to red-carpet gowns, all modeled by Black or Brown faces.

Last week, Miramax and Roadside Attractions screened their long-awaited Whitney documentary to an audience of journalists and bloggers at Raleigh Studios in Los Angeles.

Convened in secret, in the private dining room of Mr. Chow’s restaurant in New York, they waited for a woman who has achieved more in her 75 years than one could with two lifetimes. Born into a talented clan of musicians on December 12, 1940, by 1962 she was one of the 40 biggest hit makers of the entire rock era.
Medical examiners performing an autopsy on Bobbi Kristina Brown said Monday their initial findings turned up no obvious cause of death, while experts said the months that have passed since Brown was found face-down in a bathtub are working against authorities now tasked with solving how she died.
