City of Los Angeles Kicks-off African American Heritage Month Observance 

For the 74th consecutive year, the City of Los Angeles and Our Authors Study Club are uniting to present a variety of events to observe African American Heritage Month. Mayor Karen Bass assembled a committee headed by Public Works Commissioner Mike Davis and OASC President Lura Daniels-Ball to present free programs for all ages to be held at venues throughout the city. Danny J. Bakewell, Jr. is the honorary chair for citywide celebration, Wendy Raquel Robinson is the ambassador for the OASC Carter G. DermKing Humanity Foundation Provides Skincare Solutions for Underserved Angelenos

 After a decade of being the dermatology expert to many of Hollywood’s elite including Academy Award-nominated actress Angela Bassett, Emmy Award-winning actress Niecy Nash, and boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, Doctor of Medical Science and Health Science, Landon McCarroll who is also a Physician Associate (PA), is turning his attention towards helping the youth and underserved populations in the inner city by providing free medical care through his DermKing Humanity Foundation.

LA Focus’ 22nd Annual First Ladies High Tea An Elegant Affair

Publisher Lisa Collins, LA Focus hosted the 22nd First Ladies High Tea at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Apostle Beverly “Bam” Crawford and actress Wendy Raquel Robinson were the Mistress of Ceremonies and on a day when so many powerful and inspiring words were shared, one word captures the entire event most accurately: beautiful.  As Legacy Award Recipient Marla Gibbs quipped “This isn’t low tea, it’s HIGH tea!”
