What Will You Sacrifice for Justice?

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once wrote, “It may be true that the law cannot make a man love me, but it can keep him from lynching me, and I think that’s pretty important.” Those students who are protesting campus racism need to keep that quote in mind as they assert their right to feel safe and comfortable on campus. When the protests have been well defined and include an end game, such as the University of Missouri protests that toppled a President and Chancellor, they have been effective. When protests broadly address issues like comfort, they are less successful.

Foshay Tech Academy Tech Fair

The community is invited to come out and attend this event that will introduce youth to computer science Computer Science Education Week starts Monday, December 7th from  10am – 12pm at the Foshay Tech Academy in South Los Angeles. The Academy is hosting an Hour of Code event to inspire and engage community members. The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries. The Tech Academy believes that computer science helps to develop 21st century skills to prepare them for college and careers. This event highlights the innovative work that is happening

First Lady Michelle Obama Praises Amazing Students

– Students in Akron have a lot to look forward thanks in part to city’s own NBA legend LeBron James, who recently announced plans to help students pay for their college education. On Wednesday October 21, 2015 at the University of Akron’s James A. Rhodes (JAR) Arena, LeBron James and First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama addressed this announcement to over one thousand students at a special event focused on education. In 2011, in partnership with Akron Public Schools, the LeBron James Family Foundation began working on the high school dropout crisis, through the foundation’s “Wheels for Education”
