GLAAACC Hosts Women In The C-Suite

Despite accounting for 19 percent of the U.S. population, women of color occupy a mere 3 percent of the senior executive or “C-suite” positions in Fortune 500 companies, according to the Women in the Workplace 2017 report. Five African American women who have broken through the glass ceiling to attain senior corporate executive positions shared words of wisdom and success secrets at a recent panel discussion entitled Women in the C-Suite:  Positioned to Prosper. Hosted by the Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce (GLAAACC), the panel included: Michelle Avan, director, West Division Supervision Executive Global Wealth Investment Management, Bank of America Merrill Lynch; Beverly Kuykendall, president, Government Business for American Medical Depot; Lorna Little, CEO of St. Anne’s; Lisa Stockmon, founder and CEO, My Atta Grrrl and Bianca Vobecky, founder and president of Vobecky Enterprises.  The event was

SCE Customer Bills to Decrease in January

Following a 2-percent decrease in November, an average Southern California Edison customer’s bill will go down another 6 percent in January.
The California Public Utilities Commission today approved SCE’s 2016 costs for energy sources the utility needs to supply electricity, which is the main factor in January’s rate decrease. These costs are approved annually. SCE generates about 20 percent of its own power and buys the rest through contracts and short-term markets.

As Balloon Outages Soar, SCE Urges Responsible Celebrations of Dads, Grads and Newlyweds

Like bad weather, metallic balloons are a leading cause of power outages. Unlike bad weather, however, there’s an easy and cheap solution to the outages caused by stray balloons. Southern California Edison (SCE) is on a record pace for balloon outages with 390 even before the traditionally worst month of June and its celebrations of Father’s Day, graduations and the ever-popular weddings. SCE urges its customers to always keep the balloons tied to a weight, as required by California law, and to never release them outdoors. “Worse than outages, floating metallic balloons can pose a major safety threat to people
