In Willie L. Daniels autobiography, “Shades of Blue: Creating Space in the Future,” the retired United Airlines captain chronicles his humble beginnings as a young Black boy with a fascination for space exploration to a renowned award-winning pilot traveling the globe for one of the world’s top airlines.

Willie Daniels is the president of Shades of Blue, a nonprofit organization that trains youth for careers in aviation. Together, the two expanded Shades of Blue’s reach and number of aviation workshops.

Several South Los Angeles nonprofits and their top executives were recognized at the Los Angeles Business Journal’s annual Nonprofit and Corporate Citizenship Awards. Business Journal virtual event in early May.
Taylor will be in charge of Community Build’s daily operations, including managing a staff of 68 in two separate locations, the administrative offices in Leimert Park and the Youth and Community Center. She will be responsible for ensuring each department and individual employee has the resources and support needed to operate CBI’s services and programs as well as CBI’s hundreds of client. In addition, Taylor will also work to define the role and responsibilities for the permanent chief operations officer position.
