Letter Carriers Hold Rally in Compton

On Wednesday, October 4, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) held a rally in front of the Compton Post Office to bring community awareness to violent assaults on letter carriers. According to NALC and Compton letter carriers at the rally, they are becoming targets of robberies and physical assaults as they deliver the mail to residents and businesses in the area.

NAACP and NNPA Lead Protest Against Police Brutality

Delucca “Lucca” Rolle, the 15-year-old high school student who was punched and had his head slammed against the concrete by law enforcement officers last month, joined his attorney and several prominent civil rights activists in a peaceful demonstration in Florida to denounce police brutality. Rolle and others chanted, “Justice will be served,” as they marched toward New Mount Baptist Church in Fort Lauderdale. Compton Holds Rally to Protest Rash of Shootings

Due to a spate of shootings in Compton that have left 19 dead so far this year, a “Compton Watch: Take Back Our City” rally was held on May 26 in Gonzalez Park to address the recent rash of shootings.

A large crowd of community members, social activists, preachers and children gathered at the Park and Ride on Crenshaw Boulevard and 120th Street to bring awareness to the senseless gun violence impacting families and children in Los Angeles and abroad. The rally, which called for peace and social resolve through unity, faith, and prayer, sought to eradicate the cloud of darkness hovering over Los Angeles communities.
