Faith and Love Highlight ‘Girl From Schenectady’

The ups-and-downs of finding true love are highlighted in the play, “Girl From Schenectady.”  The one-woman show, performed by actress Odunayo Majekodunmi, follows the journey of Ayo, a 38-year-old Nigerian, in her search for true love, yet determined to lose her virginity before she turns 40. Along the way, she discovers God’s love and self-love before attaining her original goal in the last place she expected to find it. It was the summer of 2009, I was sitting in my bedroom in Houston, Texas, and extremely nervous and excited about what was about to happen. For the first time in my life, I was minutes away from meeting my grandpa Peter and grandma Grace. Most importantly, I finally got to see my only living grandpa. My parents are originally from Nigeria, so all of my grandparents live back in Edo State, Nigeria.
