The bodies of two women and a man were found inside a Balboa Island home in Newport Beach today, and another man at the home was rushed to a hospital.

City Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas was suspended from office by a divided Los Angeles City Council today, hours before he entered a not-guilty plea to federal bribery and conspiracy charges stemming from his time serving on the county Board of Supervisors. Ridley-Thomas did not attend the downtown Los Angeles arraignment hearing in person, but entered his plea via video. Every man is supposed to be afforded the right to be considered innocent until proven guilty.  Today the Los Angeles City Council is considering a motion to suspend 10th District Council Member Mark Ridley-Thomas before he has been afforded the right to defend himself or even face his accusers.

Carson City Council to Declare Foul Odor a `Public Nuisance’

On Friday, Mayor Lula Davis-Holmes wrote on Facebook that the cause of the odor had been identified as “a hydrogen sulfide leaking pipeline,” but by Sunday, she wrote that the leaking-pipeline theory “has been ruled out,” saying investigators again were focusing on “organic waste material drying out after being exposed during low tide.”
