Supt. George Clark Passes at 93

Superintendent George F. Clark, Jr., the pastor of the Heavenly Vision Church of God in Christ in Los Angeles, passed away on Feb. 2, his family sadly announced. He was 93 years old. Clark served 45 years as the spiritual leader of Heavenly Vision COGIC where he taught and preached the gospel of Jesus Christ. According to a family spokesperson, “He always demonstrated the love of God by reaching beyond the walls of his church to assist and help anyone who was in need.” Cherishing his memory are his wife of 50 years, Mother Lula Lindsey Clark; their five children;

Walker Celebrates 24 Years as COGIC Supervisor

A gala celebration is planned for Mother Joan Walker as she marks her 24th year as the Supervisor of Women of California for the Southwest Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. The event is set for Saturday, August 27, at 10:30 a.m., at the Doubletree Hotel, 21333 Hawthorne Blvd., in Torrance. Walker, who currently serves with Bishop Hillrie Murphy, Jurisdictional Prelate, also worked for many years with the late Bishop Bennie Roberts Benbow. SW Jurisdiction Holds Women’s Convention

The Department of Women of California’s Southwest Jurisdiction will host their Annual Women’s Convention starting Monday, August 8 through Friday, August 12, at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ, 420 South Santa Fe Avenue in Compton. Mother Joan Walker is the Supervisor of Women and president of the convention. Bishop Hillrie Murphy is the Jurisdictional Prelate. The theme is “Holy Women Committed to take this Violent and Immoral World by Force.” “We are enthusiastically expecting the presence of the Lord at each service and want to invite everyone to come and worship the Lord with us,” said Bishop Murphy.

COGIC Southwest Jurisdiction plans 55th Women’s Convention

The Department of Women of California Southwest Jurisdiction will convene their 55th Annual Women’s Convention on Monday, August 10, through Friday, August 14, at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ, 420 South Santa Fe Avenue in Compton. Mother Joan Walker is the jurisdictional supervisor of women and president of the Convention. Bishop Hillrie Murphy is the jurisdictional prelate and Dr. William Atlas is the host pastor. The theme for the convention is ‘An Urgent Call to Committed Holy Women’ based on Jeremiah 9:17.
