L.A. County Sponsors 2nd Annual Tech Empowerment Day

On Wednesday, October 4, Los Angeles County hosted the 2nd Annual Tech Empowerment Day at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The private invitation-only event provided 6,000 middle and high school students from across the county with the opportunity to learn more about science, technology, engineering, and math.

Brandon Harris Performs in VERDISSIMO! Plus! at First Presbyterian Church

On April 29 and 30, The Verdi Chorus’ 39th season will finish with “VERDISSIMO! Plus!” for two performances only at the First Presbyterian Church in Santa Monica. Led by Founding Artistic Director Anne Marie Ketchum, the Verdi Chorus is the only choral group in Southern California that focuses primarily on dramatic and diverse music for opera chorus. Countertenor Brandon Harris will be performing with the chorus and shared a little bit about performing in the concert and working with Ketchum.

Fair Chance Hiring Program Gives Another Chance 

On Friday, January 27, Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly Mitchell, the Department of Economic Opportunity, business and community leaders launched the Fair Chance Hiring Program designed to create hiring practices with the goal of getting 200 local businesses to commit to employing system-impacted individuals this year.
