LACMA Hosts Obama Portraits and Black Americans Exhibit

Los Angeles County Museum of Art will open “The Obama Portraits Tour” and “Black American Portraits” on November 7. The exhibits feature the “Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama” painting as created by Amy Sherald, the “Barack Obama” artwork as visualized by Kehinde Wiley and two centuries of Kehinde Wiley.

Lucas Museum Acquires African American Film History Archive ‘SEPARATE CINEMA’

The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, currently under construction in Los Angeles’s Exposition Park, is thrilled to announce its recent acquisition of the Separate Cinema Archive, which documents African American cinema history from 1904 to 2019. Encompassing more than 37,000 rare items, the archive includes a major selection of original film posters, lobby cards, film stills, publicity material, scripts, an extensive reference library, and more.

Los Angeles Nonprofits Receive Over $1 Million in Economic Development Grants from Bank of America to Stimulate Business and Neighborhood Revitalization

Bank of America announced $1,124,000 in economic development grants given to 52 nonprofits that help stimulate local business and neighborhood revitalization in communities across Los Angeles. Nonprofits receiving the funds provide services ranging from affordable housing and community development resources to small business support and arts and culture programs that stimulate the local economy.
