Strategically placed in the Ninth Council District in the City of Los Angeles is an historic campus of buildings, known since 1895 as Casa De Rosas.  At a time when Councilman Curren Price, the proud public servant of the New Ninth is working tirelessly to increase the availability of affordable housing we can all be very excited that Casa De Rosas’ transformation to a home for 36 single parent Veteran families with a child.

The law enforcement culture is going through a deep conditioning within Los Angeles, recent incidents triggered a global awareness of the imbalance in community protection. It unveiled a disconnection between the purpose of the police and the spirit of trust among the community. Los Angeles has looked to bridge that gap by designing the Community Safety Partnership Program in 2011. Captain Emada Tingirides has been the Coordinator Sergeant for CSP, she has embodied the mission and now leads the programs as Deputy Chief.

As of July 27, the metrics of COVID-19 are showing a steady plateau; according to the Mayor of Los Angeles, the curve is heading in the right direction. On Monday, the county reported 2,039 new cases. This brings the total diagnosed reports to 176,028. There were 905 of those cases found in the city of L.A.; there were an additional count of 17 deaths. In summary, there are 4,375 fallen Angelenos.

Renter’s Assistance Available to L.A. City Residents; Providing Help to Tenants and Landlords

Monday, July 13, the highly anticipated renter’s assistance program is looking to roll out. 100-million dollars will go directly to landlords and help tenants. Providing $2,000 to the “hardest hit” households and looking to amplify financial relief to both tenants and property owners. Eligible tenants will have to do three things: Live in the city of L.A., show the financial impact of COVID-19, and earn less than 80% of the average income in the area.

Executive Director of Civil and Human Rights Join the Mayor of the City Los Angeles to Discuss the Social Reform Within L.A.

Los Angeles City Mayor Garcetti brought awareness to the Civil and Human Rights Department, introducing their first Executive Director, Capri Maddox. This department will magnify the social issues that live among the city and reflect on the solutions. The Los Angeles City Mayor also announced to the panelist of Justice Matters on June 4, together with city council a commitment was made to shift funding that will address structural black racism.

Los Angeles City Mayor Pleads for George Floyd Protests to ‘Take a Step Back’ due to Violent Acts in L.A. over 300 arrested

Saturday, May 30, thousands came together in protest, closing the L.A. streets from Fairfax all the way through 3rd street, as the aftermath from the current murder of George Floyd by police hand in Minneapolis. Garcetti reiterated what he said yesterday, acknowledging the injustice of police brutality within the Black Community and pleaded with all residents to keep a level head while fighting for peace.
