College Football Player Provides Scholarships Through NIL Deal

Last summer, the NCAA created an interim policy that allowed college student athletes to benefit from their name, image, and likeness. Since then, student athletes have been earning up to seven figures from NIL deals. While there is money for the players to make for themselves, one Oregon State football player took this opportunity to help others.

Aquarium of the Pacific Launches African American Scholar Program for its Second Year

The Aquarium of the Pacific is now accepting applications for its African American Scholar program, which is now in its second year. The program awards funds to support African American students who demonstrate a commitment to studies related to careers in the aquarium field, including ocean education, animal husbandry, water quality, building maintenance or facilities, microbiology, and business management. Through this program, the Aquarium hopes to bring meaningful opportunities in the marine sciences to African American students and to bring diverse minds to solving the issues facing our planet and its inhabitants.

Blake Griffin and the L.A. Clippers Foundation Team with Vision To Learn

Blake Griffin and the L.A. Clippers Foundation have partnered with non-profit Vision To Learn and the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to provide free eye exams and glasses to every LAUSD student in need throughout the district. Out of over 600,000 LAUSD students, an estimated 15 to 20 percent need glasses. Over the next two years, every student K-12th grade in LAUSD who needs an eye exam and glasses will get them, free of charge, thanks to the generous support of the L.A. Clippers Foundation, Blake Griffin, and LAUSD.
