On Thursday, April 4, it was National School Librarian Day and U.S. Deputy Secretary Cindy Marten visited Susan Miller Dorsey High School for a roundtable discussion on the importance of public school libraries, librarians, and literacy.
Six Dr. Seuss books _ including “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street” and “If I Ran the Zoo” _ will stop being published because of racist and insensitive imagery, the business that preserves and protects the author’s legacy said Tuesday.

Los Angeles Public Library patrons of all ages can sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge now at lapl.org/summer or by visiting any of the 73 libraries across the city. The Challenge will run from June 12 until August 5.

The Inglewood Public Library has received a STeP (Skills for Teen Parents) grant from the California State Library. The STeP program, a statewide project of the California State Library and the Southern California Library Cooperative, has provided funds for the Inglewood Public Library to offer free workshops to pregnant and parenting teenagers. The workshops will be held one evening a week at the Crenshaw-Imperial Branch Library, February 3 to April 6, 2016. Teens must sign up beforehand to attend.
