San Diego County was one of the first to overwhelmingly report a vote against the recall and it only went downhill from there for the recall supporters.

Last week in support of the campaign to stop the recall of Gov. Gavin Newsom, Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA-13) organized a ‘Black Leaders Press Conference.’ Ninety influential Black leaders in education, the church, politics, civil rights, and more – as well as members of the California Legislative Black Caucus — attended the meeting last Tuesday via Zoom.

Until recently, Gov. Newsom’s strategy for responding to the litany of attacks he’s received from Larry Elder, the Republican frontrunner in the upcoming Sept. 14 recall election has been to not respond directly to them.Newsom’s responses have focused on his accomplishments, indirectly alluding to Elder’s attacks, and especially warning voters that if Republicans succeed in the recall Trumpism would be in charge of the state.But a little over a week ago, as Newsom spoke before phone bankers at Hecho En Mexico restaurant in San Jose hebrought up a number of Elder’s positions that clash with the views of a majority of Californians.
Californians have already received their ballot for the recall election in the mail. This election is critical for the advancement of our community to fend off the right-wing conservative attacks on our state’s government.
