The Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL) and the Library Foundation of Los Angeles (LFLA) have announced an open call for applications for the second cohort of the Los Angeles Public Library Creators in Residence program.
Students and visitors of all ages are gearing up for summer fun activities at Octavia Lab, a do-it-yourself makerspace at the L.A. Central Library. The Lab provides library cardholders free and unlimited access to state-of-the-art design, fabrication, preservation, photographic, and storytelling technologies. Octavia Lab honors acclaimed science fiction author Octavia E. Butler, who broke ground in the male-dominated genre.
The Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL) and the Dynasty United Youth Association (DUYA) come together to launch the virtual Accelerated Learning Program Service for South L.A. students in grades K-12. Students can access the free educational support program, Monday through Friday, noon to 8:00 p.m through June 5, 2021. Space is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis.
