Summer Fun Activities Await Students of All Ages At Octavia Lab   

Students and visitors of all ages are gearing up for summer fun activities at Octavia Lab, a do-it-yourself makerspace at the L.A. Central Library. The Lab provides library cardholders free and unlimited access to state-of-the-art design, fabrication, preservation, photographic, and storytelling technologies. Octavia Lab honors acclaimed science fiction author Octavia E. Butler, who broke ground in the male-dominated genre.  

The Los Angeles Public Library and Dynasty United Youth Association Team Up for A New Virtual Tutoring and Job Preparation Program for South L.A. Students Affected by COVID School Closures

The Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL) and the Dynasty United Youth Association (DUYA) come together to launch the virtual Accelerated Learning Program Service for South L.A. students in grades K-12. Students can access the free educational support program, Monday through Friday, noon to 8:00 p.m through June 5, 2021. Space is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Los Angeles Public Library Cancels Public Events in March, All 73 Libraries Continue to Operate With Standard Hours

The Los Angeles Public Library has canceled all programs, events and meeting room bookings through March 31. The action follows state and city recommendations and is taken as a precaution to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, and protect staff and patrons including the most vulnerable Angelenos.
