The Lakers returned to Staples Center on a back-to-back night as the team defeated the Atlanta Hawks 107-106 to improve to 7-6 on the season. It marked the Lakers’ third consecutive win and the first time the franchise has been above .500 since Nov. 22, 2016.
Los Angeles Lakers fans poured into Staples Center ahead of the home opener against the Houston Rockets on Saturday, invigorated to usher in the new “Showtime” era with LeBron James as the star. What happened was a different type of “showtime”. In the fourth quarter several members of these teams had multiple physical altercations and oddly enough, the fracas did not dim the excitement but fostered it.
