As residence of Los Angeles and the rest of the country focus on the outcome of the Presidential race a number of key races were also happening throughout Los Angeles and the surrounding communities. No matter what happens in Washington DC these local races will have as much if not more of an impact on the everyday lives of our community no matter who ends up residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. On Tuesday the Inglewood City Council voted unanimously to approve the sale of publicly-owned property to the developers of the Los Angeles Clippers’ new arena.
Murphy’s Bowl LLC is the company that will develop the Inglewood Basketball and Entertainment Center (IBEC). Murphy’s Bowl can purchase the property for the total price of $66.25 million. The price will be shared among several local entities, including Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), the Inglewood Unified School District, and the City of Inglewood.
Incumbent Mayor James Butts of Inglewood led early on the race for the growing city’s mayor, not in the least bit affected by a strong campaign to oust him.
The Inglewood Forum has been the home to the City of Inglewood’s most prominent and historical events, acting as a multi-purpose venue by bringing members of the community together through concerts, church services, sporting events and much more.
