There’s been a big change at Calvin’s Barbershop since our last visit over a decade ago. The once-sacred male sanctuary has been converted to a unisex salon, and some feisty female employees have brought a new flava to the former man cave, including manager Angie (Regina Hall), flamboyant Draya (Nicki Minaj) and cynical Bree (Margot Bingham).
Too soon. As the opening credits start to roll, you wonder why the producers didn’t’ give moviegoers a real break between “Ride Along” (2014) and “Ride Along 2” (2016). Two years is not enough time to make audiences yearn for more, not enough time to take this franchise to the next level.
On Saturday September 12, Ice Cube headlined a sold out show at the Queen Mary’s outdoor pavilion in Long Beach, California with a slew of other performers including Ashanti, Second II None, Baby Bash and T-Pain.
Born in Washington, DC on October 22, 1988, Corey Hawkins studied acting at Juilliard before making his big screen debut in 2012 opposite Bow Wow in Allegiance. The next year, he appeared in Iron Man 3 with Robert Downey, Jr., and in Non-Stop with Liam Neeson the year after that.

The group N.W.A. highly anticipated biopic, Straight Outta Compton, is a wonderful depiction of the group’s togetherness, troubles, and success.
Straight Outta Compton was such a wonderful success that it made $60.2 million opening weekend, according to Associated Press, making it the biggest opening for a musical biopic ever.
When West coast-based rap group N.W.A released “Straight Outta Compton” in 1988, the young men single-handedly introduced gangsta rap to mainstream America, and forever left their mark in hip-hop history.
The BET Experience filled the LA Live venues in downtown Los Angeles for the third consecutive year, this past June 27 with one of the high lights being the anticipated reunion of Compton based rap group NWA, minus the late great Eazy E. Additional performers included Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and his Top Dawg Entertainment label mates Ab-Soul, Jay Rock and Schoolboy Q.
