Taste of Soul Scholarship recipients
Taste of Soul Scholarships are awarded for outstanding community service in the areas of education, healthcare, domestic violence prevention or sustainability. Bakewell Media’s Taste of Soul has given thirteen $500 scholarships to youth who applied earlier this year. The following is a list of this year’s winners: Michael Allen graduated from St. Francis High School and will be attending Morehouse College in the Fall of 2015. He plans to study Business Administration and Finance. Alec Bailey graduated at King Drew High School and will be attending UCLA in the Fall of 2015. He plans to major in Communications with

Senate Committee Passes Holden’s Bill to Expand Pathways from High School to Community College
Legislation by Assemblymember Chris Holden has been approved by the Senate Education Committee to form a partnership between high schools and community colleges to allow high schoolers to participate in college level courses so that they can be better prepared for education after high school.
