Words of the Week – You Wanna Be On Top

Scripture: Mark 10:35-45 Anyone who is a Tyra Banks fan remembers her hit TV show “America’s Next Top Model” — a reality television series and interactive competition in which a number of aspiring models compete for the title of America’s Next Top Model and a chance to begin their career in the modeling industry. Winners typically receive a feature in a magazine and a contract with a modeling agency, among other prizes. The show’s theme song is “Wanna Be On Top.” Every contestant wanted to win the coveted prize of being America’s Next Top Model. When you are on top,

Words of the Week – To Love Your Enemy

I heard a pastor recently state that we’re going to always have enemies. He shared that people are going to fall into one of these categories: you will have people that will always hate you, you will have people who are willing to be persuaded differently about you and you will have people who really don’t care about you either way. People will have issues with you for a variety of reasons in life and many of those issues will be out of your control. Nevertheless, God has asked us to do something that may go against every fiber of

Words of the Week – The Lord Hasn’t Changed His Mind

I was reminded recently that the Lord hasn’t changed His mind about me. This came at a time where I was being told to share with others that the Lord hasn’t forgotten them either. Along the way, she discovers God’s love and self-love before attaining her original goal in the last place she expected to find it. Majekodunmi, who plays 11 different characters in the play, was inspired to write and produce the play after facing disappointments on the dating scene. She also learned that many of her

Words of the Week – You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling

Scripture: Revelation 2:1-5 As our Church School has led us in the celebration of our heritage during this second month of the year, last year they highlighted the contributions that our ancestors made in the field of music; the universal language. Music has been called the universal language because it transcends race, ethnicities and cultures. The contributions of our ancestors to the field of music from the spirituals, to gospel, to jazz, to the blues, to rhythm and blues are too numerous to name. Today I’d like to just highlight a few. The influence of the music of our ancestors
