Death is tragic, but when it is someone you know it is even more devastating. I along with many others are still in shock after hearing about the senseless murder of Michelle Avan.  This shining light and rising star was murdered.

Positive Results Corp. Annual Purple Purse Tea Party Honors Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas With Champion of Peace Award

The Positive Results Corporation Honored Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas with the Champion of Peace Award at its fourth annual awards dinner and fundraiser. The dinner was held at the Carson Community Center on Sunday, October 27. Raising money for the foundation, over three hundred guests enjoyed music, dancing, and a silent auction. The afternoon ended with a panel discussing surviving domestic violence.

Wendy’s Window: Who Are You Mentoring?

January is National Mentoring Month.  It was established in 2002 as a campaign to promote youth mentoring, but mentoring should not be limited to just the youth. It is something we should practice throughout our entire lifetime.  Twenty years ago, I started an organization called, Forgiving For Living, Inc., where we mentor and pour into the lives of girls between the ages of 12 – 17.  We provide them with skills that can help them make positive choices for their lives.

As I sit to write this article, I am overlooking where the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez intersect in Los Cabos, Mexico.  My heart is full because I’ve had the opportunity to travel around the world and I enjoy being a Global Citizen.  I embrace this term not just because of my ability to travel, but also because I truly have a heart and compassion for the people of the world.
