We are a month into the New Year and sticking to New Year resolutions of a healthy lifestyle has either followed through or fallen off for some. Like many, I have committed to adopting a new lifestyle change of watching the things I eat and buy. However, the knowledge of what should be consumed and what not to eat can be tricky.
Compton Unified School District (CUSD) has teamed up with the William Morris Endeavor Foundation (WME) and Super Sprowtz to kick-off a new salad bar program in all 22 of its elementary schools. The District celebrated the official launch at Clinton Elementary School, Friday, September 4. The Super Sprowtz salad bar program began as a pilot program last year at Foster Elementary School.
Located on West Pico Boulevard stood an all white building with a restaurant sign printed in white and green that read “Maurice’s Snack ‘n’ Chat”. The restaurant that was opened in 1978 was owned by 98 year-old Maurice Prince.
Juneteenth occurs every year on June 19 and it marks the day slavery ended in the United States.
