Perhaps 200 years from now, someone doing research, will view this time period as a turning point in American History. It is, in fact, November, 2020 and Joe Biden will become the 46th President of the United States, and Kamala Harris makes history, on several fronts, as the first woman and person of color voted into the Vice-Presidential office.
A database built by Cambridge Analytica, the Republican-aligned firm that shut down over allegations of improper use of Facebook data, targeted Black voters for “Deterrence” in profiles prepared for Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign according to reporting by Great Britain’s Channel 4 News.
In his Alabama-ish rally, President Donald Trump falsely stated that black homeownership has hit a record high under his stewardship and made the dubious claim that he set Canada’s prime minister straight on the state of trade between the two countries.
Last December, Cokie Roberts told NPR that preserving the electoral college is important to protect minorities. Her argument has since been cited by others in arguing in favor of keeping the esoteric electoral college. Except her argument was wrong. The electoral college marginalizes the vast majority of minorities. If elections instead were determined by the National Popular Vote, minorities in every state would gain an increased voice and would decide national elections. Minority voters would be most empowered by eliminating the electoral college and ensuring that all future U.S. Presidents are elected by the national popular vote wherein no vote in any state is more important than any other vote.
Some panelists even speculated that the election was stolen due to the weakened Voting Rights Act inability to fully protect the right to vote
