One of the greatest thespains to ever step foot on a Broadway stage is André De Shields, who has enraptured audiences with his award-winning portrayal of Hermes in “Hadestown.”
Davis garnered Critics Choice, Golden Globe, SAG, BAFTA, and an Academy Award in the category of Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Fences” for Paramount Pictures. She also starred with Denzel Washington in the 2010 revival of the play on Broadway. Her performance earned her a Tony Award, as well as the Drama Critics’ Circle Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, and Drama Desk Award.
“In this full circle moment, Ms. Phylicia Rashad will take the training and skills that she honed as a student at Howard and exuded in an outstanding performing career, and she will share those pearls of wisdom with the next generation of students in the College of Fine Arts. Her passion for the arts and student success makes her a perfect fit for this role,” announced Howard’s Provost Anthony K. Wutoh.
