Private trainer, gym owner, strength coach, and powerlifter Anthony Spinner exemplifies the power of entrepreneurship when consistency, vision, and action are prioritized. Anthony is now the co-owner of Athletic Gaines, a brand created by his business partner, Travelle Gaines, a renowned athlete and trainer. Spinner also owns Athletic Gaines’ new gym, located at 128 N Robertson in Beverly Hills.
The beginning of his journey is emblematic of the first steps of any entrepreneur: steady and humble. His passion for strength training began at Hamilton High School, where he stood out as one of the strongest athletes on the football team. Despite facing setbacks—transferring between colleges like Santa Monica College, Adams State University, Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, and becoming injured—Spinner always found himself among the strongest on any team, and was soon asked to become an assistant strength coach. His natural ability to train and motivate his teammates sparked his career in fitness.

Returning to LA after spending a full year as a strength coach, Spinner began training people in his backyard, using only basic equipment under the blazing sun.
“I started in my backyard with nothing,” he explained. “The ground was concrete and the equipment just didn’t look right. Most people wouldn’t have supported me, but my community supported me. I was training almost 20 people a day.”

As demand for his business, Almighty Training, grew due to the COVID pandemic and gym closures, he expanded to different locations in Mid-City and eventually set up a more sophisticated garage gym. During the pandemic, his client list exploded, and he began to train celebrities and NFL and NBA athletes.
Despite the inevitable hurdles entrepreneurs experience in their block-building years, Spinner’s dedication never wavered. He began looking for spaces to rent or lease in order to fulfill his dream of being a gym owner.
“I thought, if I can build a backyard gym, why could I not own a private gym in Beverly Hills?” he said.
Doing so would also honor a dream of his late mothers, biological and adoptive, plus his late sister, all of whom believed Spinner was destined to own an exclusive indoor/outdoor gym in Los Angeles. The turning point came when his friend Brandon introduced him to an opportunity at Athletic Gaines, owned by Travelle Gaines. Their partnership soon flourished, leading to a top-tier private training facility where professional athletes, celebrities, and everyday clients can train in an exclusive environment.

In addition to running Athletic Gaines, Spinner serves as the strength and conditioning coach at Loyola High School, where he works with multiple sports teams, emphasizing injury prevention and performance enhancement. His coaching philosophy is rooted in experience—having been both an athlete and a powerlifter, he understands the demands of high-level training.
Looking ahead, Spinner aims to continue expanding Athletic Gaines while pursuing powerlifting at the highest level. He has placed first in every powerlifting competition, and is currently preparing for the national competition in April in Atlanta, GA. “I’m hoping I can do my best in that. It’s not necessarily to be the winner; I want to take this more as a learning moment,” he observed.
His journey is a reminder that success isn’t just about resources—it’s about determination, adaptability, and a deep belief in one’s purpose.
