Guilty Verdicts in Ahmaud Arbery Case

After more than 11 hours of deliberation and eight days of testimony, a nearly all-white jury in the seaside town of Brunswick, Ga., have brought back guilty verdicts for all three men charged in the shooting death of 25-year-old Ahmaud Arbery.  Travis McMichael, 35; Gregory McMichael, 65, and their neighbor, William “Roddie” Bryan, 52, face sentences of up to life in prison.  Glynn County Superior Court Judge Timothy Walmsley will decide if those convictions come with or without the possibility of parole.  Judge Walmsley did not immediately schedule a sentencing date.

USC announced on Monday, October 12, that it has fired head coach Steve Sarkisian. This move comes one day after athletic director Pat Haden placed Sarkisian on an indefinite leave of absence. The sports outlet SB Nation is reporting that a source close to Sarkisian says he has checked himself into a residential treatment facility. USC Head Coach Steve Sarkisian Will Take Indefinite Leave of Absence

USC Athletic Director Pat Haden announced today that head coach Steve Sarkisian will take an indefinite leave of absence after failing to show up for practice today.  According to Haden, when he became aware that Sarkisian had not shown up for practice, he called the coach.  “It was very clear to me that he is not healthy.  I asked him to take an indefinite leave of absence,” Haden said.
