The non-profit organization will welcome women released from local jails and state prisons, as those facilities attempt to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
As African Americans are largest group of sufferers of chronic conditions like diabetes, heart disease and kidney disease, Dr. Cozzette Jones, president of the Association of Black Women Physicians is urging them to be more vigilant during the COVID-19 crisis. She has noticed, she said, the complacency among community members in regards to the pandemic. But complacency is dangerous, said Jones and can cost many lives.
Senator Kamala Harris is currently fighting for three things in Washington, she said. Those are: free Corona virus testing, free treatment and financial relief until Americans are able to return to pre-outbreak life. This is a public health crisis and a health care crisis, she said.
