Senior De’Marion Brown helped the Jordan Bulldogs earn their first CIF City Section Championship since 1980. He plays a variety of positions with the Bulldogs, including wide receiver, cornerback, linebacker, and quarterback.
Unforgettable sports moments in 2023
The Jordan Bulldogs rallied in the final minutes to etch their names in history during the Division III CIF City Section championships. They defeated the Washington Prep Generals 42-30. The title win is the first for the Bulldogs since 1980.
The Washington Generals attacked hard on offense, defense, and special teams to secure a 55-0 win over the Jordan Bulldogs. The victory gives Washington Prep a 4-2 overall record and Jordan now has a 5-2 overall record in their first Metro league loss.
Before the start of football season, the Los Angeles Chargers Impact Fund and Oakley renovated the weight room at Jordan High School. Along with refurbishing the weight room, they received new equipment; the football team also received new helmets.
Clarence Zurita was born on May 21, 1931 to Mary Zurita in San Pedro, California. Clarence never knew his mother and would become orphaned at a very young age. He was blessed to be placed with the Woods Family in Watts, California, where he was embraced and reared in a loving home. It was at the family business–Woods Family Auto Parts–where Clarence developed a love for cars and the skill to fix almost anything…although many times in a unique way of his own! He attended David Starr Jordan High School and held many state records, some for decades, in Cross Country Track events. A few years after graduating high school, Clarence was drafted into the United States Army, where he served one tour of duty, fought in the Korean War and received an Honorary Discharge.
Small was born in Greenville, MS to James and Hattie Belle Small. Small was the eldest of nine children born to this union.

The Los Angeles Rams have recently begun their annual Cleats for Character program; this year, they will donate 1,400 pairs of cleats. The Rams visited David Starr Jordan High School and held an assembly to kick off their effort this year.
