Kevin de León Doesn’t Show Up For Sentinel Interview with BLM’s Melina Abdullah             

Disgraced Councilman Kevin de León was scheduled to be interviewed at the Los Angeles Sentinel Offices on Monday, October 31, at 10:30 a.m.  The interview, which was scheduled to be taped and aired online as well as printed in this week’s paper, was to be conducted by Executive Editor Danny J. Bakewell, Jr., Sentinel Podcast host Niele Anderson and Dr. Melina Abdullah, leader and founder of Black Lives Matter-LA and community advocate.  But De León late Sunday evening sent a text saying that he was out of town and wouldn’t be available for the interview. 

LA City Council Advances Draft Redistricting Map Ahead of Public Hearing

The Los Angeles City Council today advanced a draft map of proposed new borders for its 15 districts, ahead of the first of two state-required public hearings on the map tomorrow. Over the last week, council members made significant changes to a draft map originally recommended by a civilian redistricting commission. City Council President Nury Martinez had blasted that original map, saying the commission’s drastic changes to council districts “confused and alienated thousands.”
