Nonprofit Hosts Event Mixer To Promote Zero Interest Microloans

As part of the Black Cooperative Investment Fund’s continued efforts to provide capital to Black-owned businesses, the organization hosted “Building SoCal’s Black Wall Street: Direct Access to Zero Interest Capital Resources and Business Movers and Shakers,” on August 21.

Johnson Headlines Holman UMC Prayer Breakfast

  Philanthropist and author Cookie Johnson shared excerpts from her memoir, “Believing in Magic,” at the prayer breakfast sponsored by Holman United Methodist Church on April 14. The theme was “Reset: Prayer, Power, Purpose.” The program featured food by G’s Catering, entertainment by Jubilant Voices, Greg Walker, KJLH Radio Free Voices and Lura Daniels-Ball and video presentations by AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Ethiopian Airlines and the Black Cooperative Investment Fund. Also, Holman members Lillian Farrah, Theodore King and Lisa Nicholas participated and Aundrae Russell, KJLH-FM broadcaster, served as emcee.

‘7 AM’ Documentary Screening

  Mar. 4 The Black Cooperative Investment Fund will present a screening and discussion of the “7 AM” documentary on March 4, at 5 p.m., at Holman United Methodist Church, 3320 W. Adams Blvd., in Los Angeles. The film shares the history and current economic state of the black community. Admission is free, but RSVPs are requested. For information, call (310) 904-6336.
