The 31st PAFF kicked off on Thursday, February 9 and will continue through February 20. Established in 1992 by Hollywood veterans Danny Glover (“The Color Purple,” “Lethal Weapon”), the late Ja’Net DuBois (“Good Times”), and Ayuko Babu, executive director, the Pan African Film Festival has remained dedicated to the promotion of Black stories film, visual art, and other creative expression.
The 31st Annual Pan African Film Festival (PAFF), which opens on Thursday, February 9, and “A Holistic Journey” is one of the films to make a premiere. The film screens on Friday, February 10, at 8:35 p.m. and on Sunday, February 12, at 4 p.m.
Actor Danny Glover will be the Pan African Film Festival’s 2022 celebrity ambassador. The 30th annual festival will be held in-person and online from April 19 through May 1, in Los Angeles.

It’s one of the most prestigious Black film festivals in America. The annual Pan African Film & Arts Festival (PAFF) highlights the international influence of Black creativity. Since 1992, PAFF’s mission has been to reinforce positive images and help prevent negative stereotypes through the power of film.
More than 200 faculty, staff, students and supporters gathered in the Golden Eagle Ballroom on Oct. 29 for the Department of Pan-African Studies 5th Annual Black Community Honors Dinner, an evening that looked back on the department’s history and recognized the contributions of individuals who have committed their lives to the liberation and empowerment of the Black community.
