One day after canceling a concert at the Forum with only about three hours notice, rapper Kanye West on Monday was taken to UCLA Medical Center for psychiatric evaluation. According to news reports West was not at his home when police responded to a call for a welfare check on the rapper a little after 1:00 p.m. The initial check was for “severe sleep deprivation” but doctors at the scene determined that he should be taken in for evaluation.

Reports also indicated that West had to be restrained. He did not want to be admitted, they said. Earlier, West had decided to cancel the remainder of his St. Pablo tour.

No reason was given for the cancellation, with concert promoter Live Nation saying only that tickets “will be fully refunded at point of purchase.” West had been scheduled to perform at Honda Center in Anaheim on Wednesday, and in Fresno on Tuesday.

West had been scheduled to perform at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Forum, but that concert was called off at about 5 p.m.

The concert was supposed to be a makeup for West leaving early from a Nov. 3 appearance at the Forum due to what he called vocal issues.

One day earlier, the rapper — who is married to reality television personality Kim Kardashian — walked off stage only four songs into a concert in Sacramento, a show in which he took the stage about 90 minutes late.

At that concert, West went into a tirade in which he railed against Beyonce, Jay Z, Hillary Clinton, the radio industry and the media, before exiting the stage.

Last Thursday, during a San Jose appearance, he elicited boos when he told the crowd in a well-publicized, profanity-laced dialogue that he didn’t vote in the recent presidential election, but he would have voted for Donald Trump.
