Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey is the best at his position in the NFL. Regardless of how his talents have pushed him into national prominence, he knows that it is through the Lord’s grace he is able to compete.

“Without my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I’m nothing,” Ramsey said. “I’m sinful by nature, I’m not perfect and that’s why I need the Lord so much.”

The Smyrna, Tennessee native uses his faith walk to evolve as a person, it also helps keep him focused on competing at a high level.

“I can always lean on my faith, I gotta give God the glory and let God really work through me and work through my heart,” he said.

Ramsey uses his social media accounts to share Bible verses and prayers, proclaiming his love of God to his 1.4 million Instagram followers and 395.3 thousand Twitter followers. As a father, he wants to make sure his three daughters and other youth know the importance of establishing a relationship with Jesus Christ.

“Those are the types of things that, when I get the opportunity to on certain platforms, I like to post about to show that it really matters to me,” Ramsey said. “It’s super important.”

In his posts, he asks the Lord for forgiveness, strength, and protection. He also thanks God for his self-discipline and self-control abilities, key qualities that helped Ramsey get 311 solo tackles and 15 interceptions during his career.

When the Rams won the NFC Championship game he tweeted: “We got one more game & It’s the biggest in the world! God is so great, I’m telling ya! I can’t wait to glorify His name to the utmost on the highest stage! Just wow.

During the 2021-2022 season, Ramsey committed 62 solo tackles, four interceptions, and one forced fumble along with defending 16 passes. During this season, a spiritual lesson Ramsey learned is the importance of perseverance. Another lesson he learned comes from Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all thy heart, and lean not upon thine own understanding.”

“We can never understand just the magnitude of how great God is because He’s that great, He’s that powerful,” Ramsey said. “Staying in constant meditation of the word and prayer, I can remain at peace, I can remain humble, I can encourage others.”

His faith in God helps Ramsey stay in the moment and focus. His support system also helps him avoid distractions on and off the field.

“You can always get distracted so you always have to try to regain your focus, renew your mind, stay tapped into what’s presently going on in life,” Ramsey said. “Things that helped me are staying grounded in my faith and I have great people around me, great support that helps me.”
