The Steward Board of Price Chapel AME Church will hold their Annual Day service on Sunday, August 20, at 4 p.m., in the edifice located at 4000 West Slauson Ave., in Los Angeles.
“We invite the community to join us on this special occasion as we salute the dedication and contributions of our Stewards,” said Pastor Benjamin Hollins.
“In addition, you will be enlightened and uplifted by our guest preacher, Pastor Mark E. Whitlock of Christ Our Redeemer AME Church in Irvine.”
Whitlock is the spiritual leader of the largest predominantly African-American church in Orange County. Under his leadership, the church has grown to more than 3,100 multi-racial members and operates several outreach ministries and socio-economic programs for the community. In 2014, he led the congregation in purchasing a $6.8 million, 26,000-feet edifice.
Also, the Rev. Whitlock serves as executive director of USC’s Center for Civic and Community Engagement. Prior to entering full-time ministry, he was the founder and executive director of FAME Renaissance, the economic development arm of First A.M.E. Church in Los Angeles.
Patricia Mayberry is the pro temp of the Steward Board and Dorothy Haskin and Barbara Robinson are co-chairs of the Steward’s Annual Day service.
