A two-day salute is planned to celebrate the 4th anniversary of Bishop Craig A. Worsham, senior pastor of People’s Independent Church of Christ (PICC), 5856 West Blvd., in Los Angeles.
The theme is “Standing With You: Our Man of God Helping the People of God.” The scriptural reference is Jeremiah 3:15, which reads, “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.”
Activities will kick-off with the Pastor’s Appreciation Brunch on Saturday, July 8, at 10:30 a.m., at Greggs Hall, located on the PICC campus. The event will feature entertainment by Sherwood Sledge and Elaine Gibbs, two of the most talented and anointed psalmists in the greater L.A. area.
The celebration will culminate with a worship service on Sunday, July 16, at 3:30 p.m., in the PICC sanctuary. The Rev. J. Edgar Boyd, pastor of First AME Church, will bring the message. The musical guests include the L.A. Inner City Mass Choir and the Gospel Music Workshop of America – L.A. Chapter.
Worsham was officially installed as the eighth pastor of PICC in June 2014. Looking forward to serving in the position, he said following his appointment, “I love the importance the congregation places on spiritual growth and the warm and loving environment. I am also impressed by their community outreach ministries.”
During his tenure, the church has heightened their efforts in these areas as evidenced by PICC’s spiritual and numerical increase and Worsham’s successful implementation of the Logos Bible Institute. Also, PICC sponsors weekly food distributions and monthly clothing giveaways as well as supplies food and blankets to the homeless community in Leimert Park and downtown L.A. during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
The appreciation events are free and open to the public. To learn more, call PICC at (323) 296-5776.
