A quarter century of ministerial service by Pastor Joseph C. Nixon will be recognized by the members of Ward A.M.E. Church with a four-day Silver Anniversary celebration.

“We have been blessed with a shepherd who loves his flock and is committed to a pastoral ministry of serving, caring, nurturing and teaching. We invite you, along with your family and friends, to join us in encouraging Pastor Nixon through worship, fellowship and tangible gifts of love,” said Dr. Carl Blanton, general chairperson.

Events begin Sunday, October 16, at 3 p.m., with worship featuring a message by Rev. Dr. Allen Williams, pastor of First A.M.E. Church in Pasadena. The First Lady Friday service takes place October 21, at 7 p.m. The guest preacher will be Pastor Najuma Smith-Pollard of St. James A.M.E. Church. Both programs will be held at Ward, located at 1177 West 25th Street in Los Angeles.

The ‘Silver Soulful Cruise on the Sea’ is set for Saturday, October 22, at 12 noon, at the FantaSeas Yacht Club in Marina del Rey. Highlighting the three-hour cruise will be live gospel music and a jazz brunch.

The celebration will conclude on Sunday, October 23, at 10 a.m., at Ward A.M.E.    Rev. Dr. Harold Mayberry, pastor of First A.M.E. Church in Oakland, will speak at the service.
