Kobe Bryant Dies in Helicopter Crash

CALABASAS, Calif. (AP) — Kobe Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas on Sunday morning, according to TMZ. Reports say he was on board with at least three other people at the time the private helicopter went down. The Los Angeles County Fire Department say there were no survivors. Emergency crews responded after a helicopter crashed and sparked a small brush fire Sunday. The crash occurred in Calabasas, said Art Marrujo, a dispatch supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. He didn’t know how many people were on board or if there were any injuries. California Could Mandate Backup Power at Cell Phone Towers

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — When the nation’s largest electric utility preemptively shut off power last fall to prevent wildfires in California, customers lost more than just their lights — some lost their phones, too. Data from the Federal Communications Commission shows 874 cellphone towers were offline during an Oct. 27 power shutoff that affected millions of people. Harris Leads Colleagues in Letter Opposing Drastic Increases to Immigration-Related Fees

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Kamala D. Harris (D-CA) led a group of her colleagues in sending a letter to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) official Samantha Deshommes expressing their strong opposition to a rule change that would drastically increase immigration fees and directly harm vulnerable immigrant populations. Earl C. Paysinger,  former Los Angeles Police Department ranking officer and bridge builder between law enforcement and the black community has died. Several news sources are reporting that he died from lung cancer. He was 64. Paysinger currently held a position at the University of Southern California as the vice president for civic engagement.
