A planned museum in South Carolina tracing African American history in America from slavery to today has hired a woman who creates exhibits based on current events.
Brenda Tindal will help create rapid response exhibits for the International African American Museum when it opens in Charleston in 2020.
Tindal did the same job at the Levine Museum of the New South in Charlotte, North Carolina. She created an exhibit on modern race relations just months after the September 2016 riots after a fatal police shooting that included a police officer’s boots, a gas mask and a tear gas stained shirt.
Tindal told The Post and Courier of Charleston she also wants to help teachers use the museum to teach U.S. History in a different way.
