Mount Moriah Baptist Church of Los Angeles will conclude the “42nd Year Appreciation and Recognition Celebration of Pastor Melvin V. and Lady Jacquie Wade, Sr.,” on Sunday, April 30, during the 9:15 a.m. and 4 p.m. services.
The theme is, “Our Pastor, Finishing His Course with Joy” based on II Timothy 4:7. Vickie Ward and JoVonne Lavender are the celebration chairs.
Under Dr. Wade’s leadership, Mount Moriah has engaged in local and national causes, including the construction of the Mount Moriah Senior Villa, a forty-unit apartment building for seniors to live independently and built in honor of the organizing pastor of Mount Moriah, late Dr. Earl A. and Mrs. Olga W. Pleasant.
The event will also be a historic occasion for Dr. and Mrs. Wade along with the Mount Moriah church family. Dr. Wade will retire in September and this celebration will be his final recognition service as senior pastor.
The guest preacher and church for the 9:15 a.m. worship will be the son of the honorees, Rev. David L. Wade and the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Mesa, Arizona. At 4 p.m., the Rev. A. D. Iverson and Paradise Baptist Church, Bishop J. Bernard Hackworth and Testimonial Cathedral Church of God in Christ will be the special guests. The speaker will be Bishop Kenneth C. Ulmer of Faithful Central Bible Church.
